What is Spiritualism?

Spiritualism is many things to many people. It is not an easily explained belief structure.

Some people call Spiritualism a Religion, a Philosophy, a Way of Life, a Lifestyle or many other things that encompass how a person lives their life with a decided belief structure.

Spiritualism is NOT a cult. Nor is it a Satanic or Devil Worship system. Spiritualism is Not Wiccan either; although many Wiccans are Spiritualists. This seems a contradiction but in reality, it is not so.

Spiritualism encompasses all beliefs, philosophies, religions and even agnostics and atheists.

In the simplest terms; Spiritualism is this:- A belief that our Spirit, Soul or Essence (call it what you will) exists in a physical body on a physical plane or realm (the Earth). When our physical body ceases to exist, our Spiritual self continues to exist and moves on to another non-physical realm. Some call this heaven. Others have other names and/or descriptions of the next realm or plane we pass onto/into. Many Spiritualist refer to it as “The I Am That I Am (another topic for another time).

A Spiritualist believes that it is possible that those still in this physical existence can communicate with those in the Spirit realm. They do this in many and varied means and methods. Some communicate via drawings and paintings. Other Spiritualists communicate with those in the Spirit realm by Clairvoyance, Mediumship, Psychic connection, Channeling, Flower reading, Psychometry (jewelery reading) and many other means and methods. Some do so with Tarot cards, by reading palms, by reading tea leaves etc.

No one method or combinations of means are wrong. For each individual, how they connect with Spirit is right. Just as it is right for others who do not connect with Spirit. It is personal choice to do so or not to do so.

Spiritualists welcome all persons to share, without judging the others’ religion, philosophies or belief structures; as long as they come with the common good of themselves and others as the prerequisite of being there. Like-minded people coming together in Love and Light to share with others the Love we all are capable of giving and receiving.

Know that all are welcome to a Spiritualist Church, Meeting or Gathering. We do not distinguish between any belief system; for what is right for you is right for you. It may not be the right way for the person sitting beside you; but if your attitude is that of Love and Light, what matter how you achieve it? As long as your intent and attitude are correct and you wish to give just as well as you would wish to receive; we can all grow together in Love and Light, can we not?
